Countryside Holiday Cottages
Two self-catering holiday cottages in a popular national park, one for couples and one for small families. This is the free Snapshot they would receive, shared with identifying details removed.
Overall grade: D− (31/100). Two lovely cottages that the website undersells. Most of what a guest needs before booking is missing or hidden.
What’s costing them customers
The homepage doesn’t say where, how many or how much
Neither village is named on the homepage, and we found no prices, no "sleeps 2" or "sleeps 4", no minimum stay and no check-in times on any page. Guests comparing cottages go back to the listing sites, where those answers are in the first line.
Every homepage paragraph ends in the same search words
The same search phrase is tacked onto the end of each homepage section, five times in all, while the page titles never name the villages. Google treats this as keyword stuffing, and guests notice it too.
The homepage has no way to book
"Check availability and book" appears only on the cottage pages, in pale grey. The homepage’s only call to action is a contact form, so guests who have picked their dates have to hunt for the calendar, and some book through a site that takes a commission instead.
19 issues, ranked by impact
The Snapshot lists every issue (8 of these were high impact). It’s free, and there’s no obligation.

One rewrite, on the house
Their homepage opened with a welcome and a slogan, without saying where the cottages are, who they suit or how to book. This answers all three in five seconds:
Two Characterful Holiday Cottages in [Your Area]
A centuries-old barn for two and a two-bedroom village cottage, each a five-minute walk from a village pub. Walk straight from the door into the hills.
